The first grant, a donation of £5,000, was given to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity this week. The money was raised through various sponsored events, a Ceilidh, Poker Nights and the sale of handmade gift cards.
£3,174 of this donation has helped to buy a new Platelet Incubator and Agitator. This will be used by the blood transfusion laboratory to store platelets before they are given to patients, many of whom are undergoing treatment for cancer or leukaemia.
The remaining £1,826 will go towards the Kiss it Better appeal. This supports research to cut childhood cancer deaths and improve treatments for related chronic health conditions by pioneering new therapies. Our donation will contribute towards the cost of employing and training three nurses supporting these medical trials.
If you’d like to help us raise even more for this very worthwhile cause, why not join us on Sunday 16 October for an afternoon of treasure-hunting in London. For full details and to book, check out the Treasure Hunt link near the top of this page.
